Michael Bassett Wants Your Casting Suggestions For Heather In His Silent Hill Movie
Michael J. Bassett is currently waist deep in preproduction on his Silent Hill sequel movie and getting around to the casting of some key roles. Over on his blog, he’s soliciting assistance in finding the right actress for the key role of Heather:
Clearly this is a crucial decision and one that I’m not going to make lightly as I need a real performance at the heart of this story. However, I am interested in who you guys and girls might see in the role and since I’m only just starting that process now, I’m not averse to seeing some suggestions.
Yeah, why not. He’s got the best for the film in mind, and who knows where the genius casting idea will come from?
So, who is this Heather? She’s a player character in the third game, and therefore the protagonist of this next film. She’s a 18 year old mall rat* who, at first, has no idea that she’s intimately linked to the demons and nastiness of Silent Hill and then, of course, finds out the hard way.
Heather often displays a healthy cynicism that’s a lot of fun in a fantasy horror setting. She most definitely isn’t the kind to go wandering off into the dark basement, and she’s full of snark that bites back at some of the fantasy and horror cliches, so we’re looking for someone who can do attitude.
As for her looks, I would suppose it’s quite possible that Bassett will be flexible, but I’ve put an image of the game’s Heather at the head of the post.
Before you rush off to Bassett with your top tips, here are his rules:
1) Has to be a known actress with existing credits.
2) Has to be able to realistically play 18 years old. You all know how the character is supposed to look. I’m not slavishly going to be led by the pixels but it’s a good starting point. Talent is more important.
3) Just the name. No long explanations or rationalizations. Just the name. You can include the link to their IMDB page. If they haven’t got an IMDB page then they’re not a candidate.
4) I’m not going to get into any response or comments about the ideas but I will look at everyone. Deviations from the above will be deleted.
Crikey, that point 3′s a bit harsh, isn’t it? Feel free to share any “long explanations or rationalizations” you might deem necessary right here. I’m actually coming up pretty much blank (at least in a suitable price bracket) so I’m rather curious to see which suggestions come forth.
*17 in the game, I think, but Bassett says 18.
